It's believed many of the hoarded dogs were rescued hunting dogs. The culture is changing. Most now consider their hunters more as pets than just property. Many even use trackers.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nBut some, especially in the South, keep 20 to 30 hounds -- beagles, foxhounds, treeing walker coonhounds -- at a time. They let them loose, if they don't come back, they don't go looking for them. If they are too old to breed, or too old to hunt, they are let loose or they surrender them to the shelters. And the same too if the dogs won't hunt -- at any age.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nI'm going to post a list of shelters and rescues by state, all suggested to me by friends on Facebook.\u0026nbsp; I ask that you go to their adoption pages and just crosspost the animals that they have for adoption. Share with your friends and followers on social media -- Facebook, Twitter, Google+. Hopefully we can help get some of these hounds into better homes. Because when shelters each euthanize dozens of dogs, it grows to hundreds across the country. The chest and abdominal area is your dog's core, just like it is on you. If you keep that area warm the heart can better pump blood to other areas of the body and help regulate temperature.\u0026nbsp; There area also has the least amount of fur. \u003Cbr \/\u003E(Often in stores you see a coat that covers the back with a piece of fabric that goes across the middle. Thyme and sage are\u0026nbsp; especially popular seasonings on roasted foods, but dogs should not eat them. The best thing to do is keep the seasoned pieces away from your pet.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nAnd again -- no bones!\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nNow if you are not serving turkey, the same rules apply. \u003Cb\u003EBeef, chicken and fish\u003C\/b\u003E are ok. Pork should only be given sparingly.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nWhen it comes to side dishes, you can't go wrong with vegetables for dogs. They are very good for them, packed with vitamins. Of course, we humans love to spoil our veggies with butter, seasoning, sugar, cream of mushroom soup (\u003Cb\u003Eno mushrooms for dogs!\u003C\/b\u003E) and fried onions.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nSo stick to cooked veggies that don't have a ton of seasoning. Lulu loves \u003Cb\u003Ebroccoli\u003C\/b\u003E, so I made her some cooked, unseasoned, unbuttered broccoli.\u0026nbsp; \u003Cb\u003EAsparagus, cauliflower, brussel sprouts and green beans\u003C\/b\u003E are also great. But not green bean casserole. That's for the humans only (nom nom nom!)\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n\u003Cb\u003ESweet potatoes, squash and pumpkin\u003C\/b\u003E make great side dishes for dogs and humans. But humans do have a tendency to load these with brown sugar, maple syrup, marshmallows, that sort of thing. Stick to cooking them simply. And when it comes to pumpkin, no pumpkin pie.
