Natural Balance's quality: How good ingredients make good dog food #WeBelieveinNB

We've been talking about Natural Balance® for the last few months. We like the food for its Limited Ingredient Diets, its Buy With Confidence™ guarantee and its commitment to making sure you get the right food for your dog through its Nutritional Experts.

But here's another reason we love Natural Balance -- the premium quality ingredients.

Check out the ingredients inside Natural Balance LIDs.
This post is sponsored by Natural Balance and the BlogPaws Professional Pet Blogger Network. I am being compensated for helping to share our thoughts about why we believe in Natural Balance as a quality food for our (dog(s) or cat(s), Life With Beagle only shares information we feel is relevant to our readers. Natural Balance has a wide variety of high-quality animal proteins. And the Limited Ingredient Diets use single animal proteins, sourced from one place.

The more traditional animal proteins are grown in the USA, while others are sourced where some of the best meat is raised -- like the lamb, which is sourced in New Zealand. And they use no by-product meals.

Salmon
We like Sweet Potato and Salmon LID formula. Fish has the added benefit of Omega-3 fatty acids and amino acids to help with a shiny coat and good skin, along with fish oils. Jasmine's allergies can make her skin flake, so this is very helpful. They also add fish oils with EPA and DHA and flaxseed to the formula for extra Omega-3s.

They are also great for reducing inflammation, which helps reduces the effects of allergies.

Sweet potatoes
Sweet potatoes, meanwhile, are used to help bind kibble. It's a grain-free carbohydrate, but it also provides fiber and aids in healthy digestion. It's also a good source of beta-carotene and other minerals.  Potato fiber and protein are also added for binding. No refined grains, soy or corn are used at all.

After that -- it's all vitamins and natural preservatives -- citric acid and rosemary extract. No chemicals or artifical flavors.

So simple ingredients. And you can see the list on the Natural Balance site for the food right here.

And on the Natural Balance website they have a complete list of their ingredients.

How do you know the food is top quality? How to Buy With Confidence!

Natural Balance's Buy With Confidence Guarantee
Quality ingredients are just one part of the Buy With Confidence guarantee.

There are four pillars:

  1. Premium Quality Ingredients
  2. Safety Testing
  3. Nutrition Experts
  4. 100% Satisfaction Guarantee
We've talked about these elements before. Natural Balance uses a 9-point safety testing regimen on each batch of its pet food. They test for toxins, salmonella, melamine and other things.

And you can find out how your pet's food was tested easily. At the bottom of the safety testing page, simply put your pet's formula, size of the bag and the best buy date.

Here's the test for our most recent bag of food below. Click on the picture to make it bigger.

Natural Balance tests for 9 different issues.

This is so important in considering whether your pet's food is OK. And if there is a problem, you can take any portion of it back! They will give you back your money, just take it back to the store you bought it from.

Protein levels, carb levels and what's new from Natural Balance

In the past I've heard people complain the formulas have too many carbs and not enough protein in them.

For the record, not every dog should have or can stomach high protein. Lulu and Jasmine find the high protein foods too rich. I've also been told beagles really don't need more than 26% protein.

But if you prefer a high protein for your pet, and are against the use of potatoes, you should know Natural Balance is hearing you.

The formulas have high levels of single source animal protein and no potatoes.
These new Natural Balance high protein LID formulas come out later this year.
They unveiled these new LID High Protein formulas at Global Pet Expo 2017. They're coming out later this year. Take a look at the protein levels on these varieties! And, no potatoes. They use peas and chickpeas.
