Ever heard of
Underwater Dogs?
The book series includes great, funny and fun pictures of dogs diving after toys under water.
The photographer,
Seth Casteel, sometimes does private photo shoots all over the country.
I had the rare privilege to watch photographer Seth Casteel take some of his Underwater Dog pictures at a photo shoot in Orlando.
Check out some of the photos I took from the shoot!

Let me tell you, these pictures are not easy to take! You have to see the huge water-proof rig Seth has set up -- with lights on either side, plus the camera.
And to take the pictures, Seth has to be quick! The lights blink so fast under water, because the dogs move fast for the ball.
The other thing is the dogs had to get acclimated to the strange pool and Seth and his big rig. Sometimes that took a while. But eventually you could tell the dogs were having a great time.

Beans
Beans is an older dog who loves the water! And once she got used to the water, she was diving deep.
 |
Beans took some time getting used to a different pool. |
 |
Seth has to get close to the dogs so he can get the right shot. |

Eventually, Beans dived for Seth, and he had to get underwater. |

See Seth Casteel's work on his website, including a list of books and calendars and upcoming projects.
And check out the interview I did with Seth for his book "Pounce," which came out in 2016, on Catster.com.
Wow, what a fun and fantastic afternoon! I love his work! This is a great article about the hard work that goes into those amazing photos.
ReplyDeleteLove, Pixel
Thanks Pixel! Are you a swimmer? Lulu and Jasmine aren't. I wish they would be interested in something like this. And it looked like he had to juggle a lot of different factors to get the right shots!
DeleteI've actually never had the opportunity to try swimming Christie. And I'm 8 years old!! I wonder if I'd like it. I can only imagine the different things Seth has to do to make it all come together. :)
DeleteYou're such a little dog, it's not like Mom would need to get you a very big pool!
DeleteHaha, very true my friend. I'll get Mommy on that straight away. Are you going to BlogPaws this year? I am sending Mommy and she'd love to see you!
DeleteNo, we're sitting this one out.
DeleteHow Cool. Seth came to Settle and took pictures of Chester and Gretel as part of a Banfield campaign but it wasn't underwater :(
