Beagle of the week! Bailey of Beagle Photo of the Day

Time for another Beagle of the Week!

This week, we talk to Bailey the beagle, star of the Facebook page Beagle Photo of the Day.

Bailey decided to answer some of the questions himself, so take it away, Bailey!

1) How old are you?
I am 6.5 yrs old.

2)  Where did your mom get you?
Mom & Dad adopted me at Second Chance Adoption Center (now closed) in Fruitland, Idaho

3) How long have you been with them?
I was adopted on Feb. 2, 2010, which was the day after my 3rd birthday. We now live in Winter Haven, FL. We've had each other for 3 years, 6 months and 4 days.

4) What's your favorite food?
My favorite food is K9 Natural Raw Freeze-Dried Lamb Green Tripe.

5) What's your favorite thing to do?
My favorite thing to do is chase geckos!!!

6) What's your favorite toys?
My favorite toys are my squeaky hedgehog and my squeaky squirrel.

7) Does you take part in any special activities (i.e. therapy dog, service dog, spokes dog, etc.) ?
My very special role is Social Director & Friendly-Greeter at my Mom's Dog Sitting Service when new Guests come for a Meet & Greet or to attend Daycare or Boarding.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Bailey's mom Lori runs Pawsitive FX pet-sitting in Winter Haven, Florida.
Bailey's mom Lori will answer the following!

8) What's the best part about owning a beagle?
The best part of owning a beagle is that it is a breed that I know well and I adore their nature, personality, sense of adventure and funny antics, their silky ears, beautiful eyes, their awesome ‘Baroooo’ and that white-tipped tail. I feel privileged to have adopted Bailey, knowing beagles as I do, as many individuals purchase beagles based on looks alone and end up turning them into dogs needing to be rescued.

We were told that Bailey lived each day alone in a fenced yard with a bark collar on. I am thrilled that I can provide him a life where I am at home with him most of the time, providing him with companionship, lots of love and all the time he wants to chase those geckos. We are both equally blessed to have found each other."

9) What's the worst?
"The worst thing about owning a beagle his voracious appetite and the constant begging and how challenging it is to resist his charm".

10) Anything you'd like to add?
"My husband and I say over and over how we 'lucked-out' on getting the beagle that we did, as Bailey doesn't dig, chew things up, destroy anything, doesn't constantly bark. He's a mellow beagle, low-maintenance, he fits well into our lifestyle and because of his nature, he's the perfect host for my Dog sitting business and perfect model for my Pet Photography.

You can catch Bailey at Beagle Photo of the Day on Facebook, and on Twitter at Bailey The Beagle.

Featured beagle in need:

Buck is our featured beagle of the week. We have talked about him before, but his case is more urgent. He's a 4 to 5 year old beagle and he needs a home without small children NOW. Here's what Osceola County Animal Shelter said to us this morning:

"Thanks for helping to get Buck adopted. We really need to move him out. He has been here a while and we are out of space."
The shelter is talking about pulling dogs out of adoptions to be euthanized.

Please help spread the word about Buck so we can get him out of the shelter. He looks like such a nice boy. There's no reason he should still be there.

You can call the shelter at 407-742-8000. You can also go to their Facebook page and reach out to them. There are lots of dogs at the shelter that need help.
